Your thoughts are powerful
How are you feeling right now? It's a tricky time, isn't it?
I choose to feel more settled. I'm embracing the seasons change this year, enjoying the sunny, crisp school run this morning and noticing the changes in the seasonal colours. Nature really teaches us so much if we let it; the trees are about to shed all their leaves once again, showing us the beauty of letting things go.
We all carry around that extra baggage, don't we? Picking up extra things as the years pass by, sometimes barely noticing the heavy load we are carrying until one more thing knocks us down and it all falls on top of us. And there's a lot going on in the world right now. Things are hard and out of our control. The trouble is that it is so easy to get sucked into that negativity and let it affect our happiness.
You may not realise the power of your thoughts and I have had many clients tell me that they can't control their thoughts. When you have stress, anxiety or depression you will feel like you can't control your thoughts, but this isn't true. You definitely can, but it does take effort to get that control back when you have lost it. Do you realise that the way we think about things determines how we feel? And how we feel influences our world around us, so it is so important to be mindful of what you are consuming that is out of your control, like world events. It is also important to have awareness of the stories you are telling yourself. Remember that the thoughts you seed in your mind will ultimately become your own living reality. So, if you have been telling yourself for years that you are not confident, that you are not good enough or worthy, or whatever your negative narrative is, then guess what, your brain is going to continue to find evidence to back up those thoughts.
So can you go be inspired by the trees and go within to find what you can let go of that is no longer serving you? What is holding you back? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
My final thought to leave you with is that our most powerful thoughts are held in the subconscious mind. Old patterns of behaviour, negativity and stories we tell ourselves about not being good enough are like templates that our brain can always fall back on and rely upon because they are familiar and safe. This is why it feels like we can't control them, because they have got a firm grip on us! But that is also why solution focused hypnotherapy is so powerful and effective, because it reprogrammes your thought patterns so you can let go of that unhelpful brain chatter and familiar patterns in a way that you can't do with just conscious awareness and willpower!
